What's your favorite thing about architecture?

Architecture has a profound impact on the lives of people. Each project – big or small – has the capacity to change how we live and even see the world around us.

Why did you become an RIBA member?

RIBA strives to promote excellence in design across a wide cross-section of practices. I enjoy how RIBA makes it possible to learn about new studios doing excellent work that I would otherwise be unaware of.

What kind of projects does your firm do?

We are known for challenging typological assumptions across a range of scales from really small projects such as a greenhouse to stadiums and airports.

What’s your favorite project you've worked on so far and why?

The Orchid Educational Pavilion was a greenhouse that I designed for the Jardín Etnobotánico de Oaxaca. The collaborative process with the client, structural and energy consultants, and the craftsmen was remarkable. This truly integrated approach is reflected in the quality of the completed project. In 2018 it was recognized as the most sustainable building in the Americas by Architect’s Newspaper.

How would you describe a typical day in the office?

There is no typical day. That is why architecture is so interesting.
